Highlights included English Schools Championships qualifying times for Will Perkin, Hannah Thear, and Harry Kettle.
U17 Will was in the third race into the 35-race timetable (the 1500m mens B race) and he managed to keep a good pace, just dipping under the qualifying time for Inter Boys 1500m of 4.07 with 4.06.7. Under 20 Joe Aherne was in the 1500m C race and, finishing strongly, achieved a PB of 4.13.41.
Three Chiltern athletes were involved in the 1500m E race with U20 Joe Cochrane running a season’s best 4.30.09. Seb Mills (U15) ran a PB of 4.36.28 with Will Brown a little off his best with 4.48.71. The F race saw Richard Slade just outside his best with 4.47.16 but U15 George Brown achieve a PB of 4.53.16.
The 800m A race had Michael Goddard just outside Senior Boys English Schools qualification with 1.55.5. In the D race fellow U20 Callum Neal had a good first lap but faded to 2.06.67.
In the 800m F race, Harry Kettle was a clear winner with a strong last 100m to log a big PB of 2.04.09, well inside English Schools qualification for Junior Boys. In the G race U17 Toby Smith ran a solid race to record 2.11.9 and U15 Theo Kontos ran a good PB of 2.26.52 in the I race.
For the females U17 Hannah Thear took control of the 800m C race and won well with a season’s best of 2.16.49, comfortably inside English qualifying for Inter Girls. In race H, U15 Sandie Pohlman showed a good turn of speed to run a season’s best of 2.30.32.
