In the U17s Claire Baxter threw an excellent PB of 21.44m in the discus for the silver medal. Claire also ran for fourth in the 800m with a season’s best 2.35.33. Sophie Chesterman was a place ahead for bronze with a season’s best 2.33.18.
The U15s were not to be outdone and there was a high class 1-2 in the 800m for Sophie Morton and Scarlett Wager-Leigh with great times of 2.21.4 and 2.22.5. Abi Jones continued her prolific javelin season with silver – 29.51m being the distance. Becca Jones ran 14.52 in the 100m heats and Emily Baxter a PB of 49.32 to be fifth in the 300m final. Becca and Emily then both threw strongly in the shot, amazingly both getting the same distance of 7.49m, a PB for Emily and close to a PB for Becca.
On the male side there was great PB for Jonty Wager-Leigh in the 800m of 2.01.66 – this got Jonty the bronze medal. Jamie Lloyd and Tom Conway both ran well in the U17 400m final, both getting PBs - of 54.08 and 54.90 respectively - Jamie in silver and Tom just missing out on the podium in fourth.
