On Wednesday 16th July runners faced the challenging down and up course of the Waddesdon 5k and Chiltern had some strong representation. Ben Davies, of Chiltern Tri, finished 4th overall with a great time of 16.45. Michael Turney of Chiltern Harriers was the 2nd in the Vet 50 Men category, finishing in a time of 19.51 and 39th in the race overall.
Chiltern Harriers had strong representation on Sunday 20th July for the hilly High Wycombe half marathon and 10k event. In the half marathon Derek Brown put in an excellent performance to finish 3rd in the race overall and the first in the Vet 50 Men category with a time of 1.19.54. Alistair Melville-Smith also finished in the top 10, with a position of 8th and a time of 1.23.22. Hywel Thomas completed the course in 1.32.11, putting him in the top 10 for his age category (Vet 40 Men) and 30th in the race standings overall. The first lady Chiltern Harrier home was Kirstie Elliott, who got round in a very respectable 1.37.15 and finishing 70th in the race. She was followed by Kate Loach and Barbara Ralph in the Vet 50 and Vet 60 Ladies category, respectively. Kate was 2nd in her age group, with a time of 1.46.12 and Barbara 1st in hers with a time of 1.49.52. Simone Pomerantz also completed the challenging course, earning a time of 2.18.07. Nearly 600 people completed the half marathon course.
In the 10k race there were nearly 300 runners and two from Chiltern Harriers. Fabian Downs won the race with a very impressive time of 33.50, whilst Martin Allen put in a solid performance of 53.01.
