Junior athlete Matthew Clifford (JM11-14) was the only Harrier in action in the St Albans parkrun, bringing home a great new PB of 21.05. Well done Matthew!
Ash Holmes (SM25-29) continued to show his rocketing improvement at the Tring Park event, earning himself a new course PB of 20.06 and a fourth position finish. He was joined by junior athlete Scarlett Wager-Leigh (JW11-14)- 22.33; Mark Fry (VM50-54)- 26.24 and Matt Channer (VM35-39)- 27.01.
Finally, at the Wycombe Rye parkrun Guy Johnson (VM55-59) and Philip Lewis (VM70-74) both did very well to complete the course in 22.12 and 30.12, respectively.
Staying with the family theme John and Barbara Ralph were competing at the (London Inter Club Challenge) meeting at Allianz Stadium, Hendon on Saturday 1st August. John took part in the race walk, whilst Barbara entered the 3000m, which saw a talented mixed field put in some hot performances. The winning time was logged by a man in 8.52.09 (in fact the first three finishers were all home in under 9.30); followed by the first lady in 9.08.79. Barbara was delighted to be able to clock her second best time for the distance this season – 13.20.08.
… and last but definitely by no means least: Jason Trimmer spent Saturday 1st August taking part in the Phoenix Summer Trail Marathon. This ‘beautiful, low key jaunt’ sees runners completing four laps of a route along the River Thames from Walton on Thames to Hampton Court. In perfect conditions Jason, a relatively recent addition to the Club, did absolutely fantastically to finish in 4th position in 3.05. Proud wife Carolyn and the kids were there for the finish. Stunning running.
