Chiltern Harriers young athletes had more autumn success at the South of England Cross Country Relay Championships at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday.
In cool, grey conditions highlights for the club were gold medals for the U13 Boys, silver medals for the U20 Women and fastest lap accolades for Angus Williams in the U13 Boys’ race and Will Perkin in the U17 Men’s event.
10 - 11 October: Ley Hill Challenge, parkruns, Oxford, Henley & Royal Parks Half Marathons, Tring Ridgeway & The Herts 10k
Apologies, once again I am starting the week’s report with belated results from last weekend. This time it is local event the Ley Hill Challenge, which took place on Sunday 4th October. Chiltern Harriers AC definitely had the home advantage on this course, which took in many sections of classic Harrier training runs. In the 5k event Judith Orr was victorious amongst the women, and 10th overall, with a time of 25.28. Ellie Bates (ahem) matched that result in the 10k, coming in in 44.44.
Chiltern Harriers began their Chiltern Cross Country League campaign with a very good performance at Keysoe, Bedfordshire on Saturday.
In mild, pleasant conditions, the club were overall third in Division 1 of this top level league, the first cross country league in the country to introduce chip timing, which worked well on its first outing. An encouraging total of 87 Harriers took part.
IronMan Mallorca, Berlin Marathon, parkruns, QEOP 10k, Blenheim Half Marathon & South Bucks 10k - Race Report 03 - 04 October
Once again, we start this week’s race report with a few belated mentions from last weekend- belated, but by no means belittled, considering the magnitude of the achievements! On Saturday 26th September Christine Moore joined the ranks of Chiltern IronMen in Mallorca. Christine clocked an overall time of 14.43.02: Swim – 01.17.49; Bike – 07.45.47 and Run – 05.14.05. In Berlin Chiltern Harriers AC second-claim runner Simon Beedell put in another stunning marathon performance, finishing in 02.34.22. He was joined by Peter Gould, who also managed an excellent time – 03.09.44. Well done to all three of our ‘international athletes’!
