We’ll start this week’s report with a belated result from last weekend. Chiltern Harriers AC juniors Jamie and Callum Powell both raced the Turnfurlong School Cross Country, which included a number of schools from the Aylesbury and Berkhamsted area. In challenging cold, wet and windy conditions Jamie (Year 5) finished 4th whilst Callum (Year 3) just lost out in a photo finish for 2nd place.

Chiltern Harriers juniors had a near complete sweep of the local schools cross country winning all but two of the races. On a cold wet windy day conditions were a challenge for all athletes with the route changing in the morning for safety reasons. The course was extremely muddy and all athletes did extremely well completing the course.

To start this week, we have a collection of a few of the highlight results from the last few weeks. Thank you to everyone who sent results to me and apologies to anyone who has been unintentionally missed.
On Saturday 17th October Cathy Staunton, finding herself in Ireland, took part in the famous 10 mile Coney Island Challenge. The race set off from the rugby club in Sligo and sees competitors run out to the island (accessible at low tide), round it and back; however, being Ireland, things started a little later than planned and there was significantly more water on the way back than on the way out! Cathy did fantastically to finish 11th lady in 1hour22.
Chiltern Harriers continued their cross country season with another good performance at the second Chiltern Cross Country League fixture at Teardrop Lakes, Milton Keynes on Saturday. The team were third on the day, consolidating their third place overall.
