Running double that distance on Saturday was Neil Brown in the Windsor Great Park 10k Dash. Neil enjoyed the event and ran a very respectable 42.49.
On Sunday 26th July David Holmes (V60) was the only Chiltern Harrier to brave the wet conditions in the Purple Patch Down Tow, Up Flow half marathon. David came in just under the two hour mark, in a commendable 1.58.41.
Finally, Chiltern Harriers AC's Tom Powell, Pip Harris and Dave Howells were in action in another feat of ultra-running. Joined by friends from outside of the Club they made up Team Penguin in the inaugural Cotswold 24 Hour Relay Race. The race saw soloists, pairs and teams of up to 8 completing as many laps of a 9km route as they could over the 24-hour period from 1200 on Saturday 25th to 1200 on Sunday 26th July. Team Penguin did fantastically well, braving Sunday's downpours to complete 30 laps in total. They were rewarded for their efforts with 6th place overall and 3rd out of the 21 mixed teams of 6-8. Moreover, they were one of only four teams to complete all laps in under an hour. Although a little smaller than other races similar in concept (such as Endure 24 and Thunder Run), the team found it a great event with a relaxed, local feel. Well done!
