Chiltern Harriers AC had some fine performances. Eddie O’Gorman led the club home, finishing 3rd, with a time of 42.32. He was followed by Michael Turney (46.59); Sandra Reynolds (48.29) and Martin Allen (59.51).
22nd-26th June saw Cath Holloway taking part in the gruelling Dragon’s Back Race – 5 days of Welsh mountain running, which takes competitors from Conwy in North Wales all the way down to Carreg Cennen Castle in the South, via mountains including Snowdon, Plynlimon and Cadair Idris. Cath did fantastically finishing 45th (and 8th lady!) out of a total 65 who made the final cut (a great number did not finish). Well done Cath! For a full report, please see here.
Hopefully all the regular parkrun runners out there will forgive me for missing 20th June. There were some fine performances in the weekly 5k events on 27th June. In Black park Glen Martin (VM40-44) was rewarded with a new PB of 22.21. He was followed home by Maddie Hughes (JW10) in her 20th ever parkrun – 23.21; Alexander Hughes (JM10) – 25.55; Sue Stewart (VW50-55) – a brand new PB on 29.24 and Paul Walker (VW60-64) – 30.29. In St Albans Matthew Clifford (JM11-14) did his first ever parkrun in 21.41 – an excellent result! Matthew Channer (VM35-39) and Richard Lloyd (VM50-54) were in action in Tring, finishing respectively in 26.38 and 27.34 (equalling his PB). In Wycombe Rye Tom Ayres (VM35-39) was the only Chiltern Harriers AC athlete competing, finishing the race in 26.11.
Finally, 28th June saw the 31st running of the annual CPM Thame 10k. Conditions were more-or-less perfect for running: cool, with just a few specks of rain and a pretty fast course. Andy Wiseall (V35) was the first Chiltern Harriers AC runner home, earning himself a great new PB of 38.37. Kingsley Nanton (V40) was just behind, producing a season's best of 39.00. Kingsley was followed by: Mike Turney (V50) - 40.13; David Howells - 47.24; David Turner (V45) - 48.46 and Peter Taylor (V50) - 55.43.
