Welcome to 2017 Race Report fans, and to this selection of festive treats! Whilst many of us will have been enjoying a well-deserved break, others have been pounding the pavements and trails, and pulling some great results out of the bag.
Good evening Race Report fans, I hope you have all been enjoying a peaceful weekend.
Firstly, a small apology for missing a couple of results from last week’s South of England Masters’ and Inter County Cross Country Champs. Simon Brown clocked an impressive time of 38.04 in the 10k, whilst Martyn Cartwright took part in the 70+ race, completing 6k in 38.55. Well done, both!
Race Report 10 - 11 December: Bedford and Milton Keynes Half Marathons, parkrun, SEAA Masters Cross Country and Regent's Park 10k
I hope you have all been having a lovely weekend.
May I apologise first of all for being somewhat tardy with the results of the Bedford Half Marathon, which took place last Sunday 4 December. Three Harriers took park on the fairly hilly course: Ian Lawson, who finished in 1.38.49; David Holmes – 1.58.06 and Tony Molesworth – 2.12.44.
Race Report 26 - 27 November: parkrun & Last Friday of the Month, Bushy Park 10k, Hatfield 5 and the Watford Autumn 10k
Good evening Race Report fans. This week’s edition comes live from the sunny West Midlands. Sadly, due to technical issues, I fear I may be missing some results, so please do email them to me if that is the case.
We start the report as usual with a Parkrun roundup from Saturday 19 November, and join Neil Bates, parkrun correspondent:
“Quickest Harrier of the day was Justin Fowler clocking 18:06 at Aylesbury. He was followed by Nathan Taylor (18:56) and Alan Hornibrook (20:33).
Good evening Race Report fans! Hopefully you managed to enjoy some dry running at some point this weekend, after a distinctly soggy start yesterday.
In parkrun on 5 November, best placed Harrier for the day was at Aylesbury where Justin Fowler won with a time of 18:02. Nathan Taylor joined him and recorded a time of 19:08.
Halloween Special: Humanity Direct Ultra, Burnham Beeches 10k, 'I'll be back', Love Luton Half, parkrun & Last Friday of the Month, Maverick, Ricky Road Run and Dublin Marathon
Today’s spooky Race Report starts off with some terrifyingly good results from last week. Cath Holloway returned to ultra-marathoning at the Humanity Direct Ultra on 22 October, finishing the 32 miles in 5hrs 17mins and finishing 3rd female. Well done, Cath!
The following day Fabian Downs took the title and the course record at the Burnham Beeches 10k, finishing in 34.44.
Once again, some of Chiltern Harriers AC’s ultrarunners have been in action this weekend, putting us mere mortals to shame with their feats of derring-do.
We’ll kick things off with Ali Young. Ali finished 18th overall and the first of Team GB’s ladies at the IAU European 24 hour Championships in Albi, France. Ali covered 214km over 24 hours – that’s a staggering 133 miles. We’re really proud (and slightly terrified) of you Ali. Well done!
It’s been a bit of a quieter weekend in Race Report Land. Well done to all those who took part in the Chiltern League yesterday at Horspath, Oxford. Keep watching the website for Steve Perkins’ report.
Firstly, we’ll start with a story from last weekend: Rik Edwards completed his first marathon as a V60 – in Chicago, no less. Rik was very pleased to get round in 3.55.54, and was proudly flying the flag for CHAC in the US of A! Congratulations, Rik!
