The competition features four races, Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Intermediate Boys, and Intermediate Girls, each with 24 schools from around England – three schools from each of eight regions.
Both boys and girls had great days with the DCGS Inter Boys team being second and the DCHS Junior Girls third. The DCHS Inter Girls also did well to be 15th.
The Challoner’s Inter Boys team is entirely composed of Chiltern Harriers Under 15s and the lads ran very well. Angus Williams was 18th, Alex Aldred 26th, Cameron Reid 29th and Tommy Davies 34th to be the scoring four. The total of 107 was well behind winners The Judd School from Tunbridge on 55, but enough to hold off Royal Grammar School in Guildford who finished on 111. Edward Watson also had a good run to be the fifth DCGS finisher in 65th. There were 134 finishers.
The DCHS Junior Girls had won both County and Regional Rounds and looked set to be in the medal mix come the Final. On a very short course the Challoner’s Juniors ended up with 132 points, just enough for third with the schools behind them on 137, 139 and 142. Abbie Henderson led the way in 16th. Packing well just behind were Holly Henderson in 28th, Jinaan Lockwood in 39th and Katie Repper in 49th. Charlotte Hilton was sixth DCHS finisher in 107th from the 140 finishers.
The DCHS Inters improved on last year’s 21st place with a solid 15th. The scoring four were all Chiltern Harriers: Soraya Lockwood 16th, Millie Hughes 32nd, Beth Welham 87th, and Olivia Cameron 89th.
