Will Perkin (Senior Boys 1500m), Cameron Reid (Junior Boys 800m) and Joe Eggleton (Junior Boys 100m) were the three Chiltern athletes taking part with Cameron and Joe making their debuts in the championships, Will competing for the fourth time.
Will ran strongly in the first heat of two 1500m on Friday morning, finishing second in 3.58.84. However Will could only live with the fast pace of the final on Saturday afternoon for the first kilometre and finished twelfth in 4.08.94.
Cameron ran a good race in his 800m heat late on Friday afternoon, moving from seventh at the bell to fifth place in a very good time of 2.04.60, just outside his PB. However this was not enough to progress to Saturday’s final.
Joe Eggleton has had various injury problems this season and ran well but his sixth place in 12.07 in Friday morning’s heat was not enough to progress further.
All three boys enjoyed their experience and still have a few weeks of competition in the season to achieve more in their events.
