Once again, we start this week’s race report with a few belated mentions from last weekend- belated, but by no means belittled, considering the magnitude of the achievements! On Saturday 26th September Christine Moore joined the ranks of Chiltern IronMen in Mallorca. Christine clocked an overall time of 14.43.02: Swim – 01.17.49; Bike – 07.45.47 and Run – 05.14.05. In Berlin Chiltern Harriers AC second-claim runner Simon Beedell put in another stunning marathon performance, finishing in 02.34.22. He was joined by Peter Gould, who also managed an excellent time – 03.09.44. Well done to all three of our ‘international athletes’!

As ever, Saturday 3rd October saw a wealth of parkrun efforts from Chiltern runners, including first positions for Thomas Rayner (JM15-17) in Cassiobury Park – 17.25 – and Ali Young (VW40-44), who took home first lady in Black Park – 19.50. Also running in Black Park were: Matt Robins (SM30-34) – 21.12; father and son Sebastian (JM11-14) and Matthew Laurence (VM40-44) in 23.18 and 23.19, respectively; Matt Channer (VM35-39) – 24.55; Pip Harris (SW30-34) – 26.08 in her first ever parkrun; Shaheen Dent (VW55-59) – 29.23; Paula Walker (VW60-64) – 30.24; Sue Bree (VW55-59) – 36.28 and one final father and son team Tom (SM30-34) and Martin Powell in 40.21. At Wycombe Rye Roger Ellerby (VM55-59) took part in his first parkrun in some time and was rewarded with a very respectable 23.20. Joining him were: Guy Johnson (VM55-59)- 23.23; Hannah Edward (JW10)- 26.48; Tony Molesworth (VM70-74) – 27.31 and Evangelina Baker (JW10) – 32.52. Finally, in Tring Grant Whitaker (VM50-540 finished in a great 10th position in 21.51. Joining him were Katie (JW11-14) and James (VM40-44) Repper in 24.52 and Richard Lloyd (VM50-54) – 29.15.
Also on Saturday 3rd October Nick Marsh did fantastically well to finish 3rd in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 10k, shaving further time off of his PB to clock a brilliant 37.16.
On Sunday 4th October Annelize Colquhoun took part in her first half marathon in 20 years at Blenheim Palace and did absolutely brilliantly to come home in 1.47.21. She was joined by Dave Williams, who made Blenheim his first ever half marathon, coming home with a great PB of 1.46.44. Well done both!
In Wexham three Harriers were in action in the South Bucks 10k. Matthew Robins led them home in 41.44, joined by Michael Bailey (V40) – 44.48 and Barbara Ralph, who came home with 2nd FV55 in a creditable 46.26.
