Given the wet winter, conditions were very good. Fairly firm but undulating courses and a cool but dry day made for some excellent racing in this highpoint of the endurance club calendar.
The U13 girls also had enough runners to complete a team. Despite an unfavourable pen draw, Orla Williams worked through the field to be a commendable 31st. Millie Hughes was 200th, Laura Williams 224th and Katie Repper 254th, with the team being 26th from 48. Jinaan Lockwood was 354th from the 449 finishers.
In the U17 men’s race Will Perkin ran well to be 19th. Richard Slade was 83rd and Rob Hall 151st. There were 243 finishers. Hannah Morton was the sole Chiltern representative in the Junior Women’s race and ran well to be 41st from 129 finishers.
Both U15 teams had three runners – the boys featured Tommy Davies in 186th, Edward Watson in 234th and Oliver Jackson in 245th from 367 finishers. Robyn Watkins for the girls had another good run to be 46th. From a big field of 354 Soraya Lockwood was 163rd and Sandie Pohlman 327th.
There were also three Chiltern competitors in the Senior Men’s race. There were 1730 finishers in this traditionally huge event and Neil Brown (831st), David Breingan (1227th) and Trevor Brawn (1682nd) all got round the gruelling 12k circuit.
