Over 270 runners were on the starting line waiting for the Mayor, Cllr Peter Hudson to press the klaxon to start the race up the hill through Lowndes Park before leaving for a circuit around part of the Pednor Valley and along Herbert’s Hole. Conditions were perfect for cross country running – slippery and muddy in some places. Although it was wet and windy on Saturday, race day was mild and almost sunny. Very good times were recorded by an high class field with club and fun runners coming from as far away as London, Birmingham, Chelmsford and Shoreham on Sea; many commented on the fantastic scenery on the course and what a lovely town Chesham is. After the race, runners and visitors met the at the race headquarters in the Chesham Guide Hut to see the Mayor present the prizes and enjoy the hot refreshments served by Kate Weber as usual.
