At Tring Grant Whitaker was the first Harrier home in an impressive 21.48. He was joined by: Matt Robins (at Tring for the first time) – 22.47; Jamie Powell (doing his first ever parkrun) – 23.32; Callum Powell (a new PB) – 24.04; Gabriel Baker (PB) – 24.08; Raphael Baker – 28.31; Matt Channer – 29.57 and Evangelina Baker (PB) – 30.05. Great results for the families Baker and Powell. Well done!
Further afield Susan Jarman was back in action in South Shields, where she finished 2nd lady in 21.13. Paula Walker clocked 29.07 in Salisbury and Adam Jones managed the Bryn Bach event in 21.36. Matthew Clifford earned himself a new PB of 20.36 at St Albans. David Breingan finished 4th at his first ever attempt at South Oxhey, in 21.27, and David Saul recorded a new PB at Cassiobury Park – 22.09.
On Sunday 29 May Michael ‘Tiny’ Turney and Mairead O’Rourke were battling it out at the Marlow FM 10k. Mike finished 4th overall and first M50-59 in 38.39. Mairead was 5th overall and 1st lady in 39.16. Lean Ni Chiobhain continued to show the consistently strong performance which we have come to expect from her, finishing 3rd lady in 44.28.
And, finally, two Harriers were adding swimming and cycling to the repertoire during triathlon events this weekend. Neil Brown took part in his first ever tri, the Guildford Triathlon, over the sprint distance (500m swim, 22k bike and 5.5k run). Neil clocked a total time of 1.28.31. At the other end of the tri scale Rebecca Nkoane did fantastically well to finish 3rd in the Outlaw Half Ironman in Nottingham. Rebecca, feeling deservedly proud, was the first lady in the F40-44 category with a total time of 4.56.18 (27.22 for 1.2mile swim; 2.49.51 for 56mile bike and 1.34.41 for 13.1mile run). Absolutely stunning.
