Also on Saturday 21st March Peter Wootton (V40) took part in the wonderfully-named ‘Hot Chocolate Half Marathon’ at Dorney Lake and put in an equally wonderful performance of 1.28.42!
Sunday 22nd March saw the running of the popular Reading Half Marathon, which this year welcomed 18,000 runners! With the sun shining, conditions must have been somewhat warmer than many marathon trainers have become used to.
Simon Beedell was the first Harrier home, with an absolutely brilliant time of 1.13.19. He was followed home by: Eddie O'Gorman (1.16.50); Arwel Roberts (1.26.02); Rebecca Nkoane (1.24.35); Ali Young (1.26.33); Hywel Thomas (1.27.02 - a great new PB); David Howells (1.39.33); David Holmes (1.53.53); David Turner (1.47.19); Isabelle Winter (2.07.15); Kate Edwards (2.04.44) and Peter Taylor (2.13.21).
Well done all!
Elsewhere, two Chiltern Harriers athletes took part in the Leighton 10k. Kingsley Manton (MV40) did well to finish 12th overall, in a time of 39.56. Jonathan Clarke also put in a strong position (especially considering he'd raced in the parkrun the day before!) finishing in 48.16.
