In a very different kind of event Rebecca Nkoane finished a fab 8th in the women’s competition (and 1st in FV0-44, out of 68) in the London Triathlon on 6 August. Becs completed the Olympic distance tri (1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10.5k run) in a total time of 2.25.14. Well done!
In parkrun news, Michael ‘Tiny’ Turney was the fastest Harrier out on Saturday 6 August, clocking a time of 19.21 during his first attempt at Wycombe Rye. Joining him were: Matthew and Alfie Clifford – 22.00 and 22.02, respectively (and also a first run at Wycombe); Dave Howells – 23.41 and Philip Lewis – 28.24, in a milestone 30th parkrun. PBs were the flavour of the day at Black Park, with new personal records for: Harry Vintner (19.49); Laura Hayers (21.32, parkrun number 20); Matt Channer (who knocked 90 seconds off of his previous best to set a new PB of 22.24) and Miriam Kempson (chuffed with 26.57); Mike Worsfold was the first Harrier home at Black Park in 19.43. Joining them on the day were: Ellie Bates (20.57); Ian Lawson (21.17); Neil Bates (23.10); Shaheen Dent (29.19); Caitlin, Lily and Brian Gregory (31.14, 31.33, 31.34, respectively). At Tring Neil Brown was pacing, coming in in 23.16 and David Saul (not far off his PB) clocked 23.52. Sam Meldrum was first Harrier home in Cassiobury Park, in 19.13 (his first time at the event and a PB). He was joined swiftly by Dave Williams – 19.19 (also a first in Cassiobury park and a parkrun PB), and then: Kate Loach – 21.14 and Lyn Mellor – 23.32 (a mere 9 seconds off her PB). Mairead O’Rourke was out with the buggy at Gadebridge and finished in 23.43. Rachel and Tom Ayres were in action over at Fritton Lake in East Anglia. Rachel earned herself a new PB of 25.15 and Tom finished just behind in 25.20. David Breingan was also over in East Anglia, finishing a fabulous 2nd at Brandon Country Park in 20.34. Finally, Jonathan Clarke finished the Cardiff event in 25.14.
