Merry Christmas Harriers from us at Race Report! Whatever you are doing, and wherever you are going to be for Christmas, we hope that you have a wonderful time, and wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2018. Race Report is going to take a break for a couple of weeks, so we’ll see you in January.
With results not yet available for today’s Bedford Harriers Half Marathon, it’s a very short race report this evening. Chiltern Harriers AC continue to dominate the junior age groups at the Chiltern Cross Country League, leading the League after three matches. Look out for Steve’s report of Saturday’s event at Luton.
Congratulations are more than due to a number of our young athletes this weekend. Challoner’s boys and girls were crowned national champions at the English School’s Athletic Association Cross Country Cup Final yesterday at Sevenoaks, Kent, in the juniors’ race. In the Inter race, the boys came out as silver medalists and the girls – bronze. An all-round stunning performance. As the Chairman of ESAA said, there is something in the water in the Chilterns.
Good evening, Race Report fans! We’ve got quite a short report for you today - a tasty appetiser to Steve’s commentary from yesterday’s second Chiltern League match. Keep watching this space!
Remember, remember the 5th November
Gunpowder, treason and… jogs?
Chiltern Harriers AC runners put in some absolutely storming performances around the hills of Marlow in the Marlow Seven and Half. In the Half Marathon, Aran Davidson earned himself a PB (despite the tough course) of 1.23.11 and 10th place overall.
Storm Brian proved no match for Harriers this weekend, with a number of personal bests to go round.
Kate Loach tackled the humid Venice marathon, taking in no less than 14 bridges to finish in a fantastic time of 3:37; coming third in her age category. Well done Kate!
Race Report is short (but sweet!) this week. Firstly, on behalf of everyone at the club, congratulations to Pip Harris and Tom Powell who got married at the weekend.
Well done to those who tackled the first Chiltern League match of the season at hilly Horspath. The Club had a great turnout across the board, with record numbers of individual and team wins. Read Steve’s report for the full story.
A busy autumnal weekend for Harriers this weekend! Enjoy the first Race Report from brand new reporter Rosemary Davenport!
Matt Channer, Matt Robins and Katie Royals took part in a veritable fiesta of running on the south coast, as part of Bournemouth running festival. Not content to compete in just one event, Matt R ran the 5k (21.36) and 10k (43.52) on Saturday followed by the half marathon on Sunday, completing this in 1.45.05. And all after doing parkrun on Saturday morning! Matt C completed the 5k in 22.44 and the full marathon in 4.06.48, with Katie finishing the half in 2.04.13. Well done guys!
Good afternoon everyone! 1st October seems to have been the day for 10k running in the Chilterns, with loads of local races taking place on Sunday 1 October.
Before we crack on with the Shardeloes 10k report and our usual weekly parkrun fix, a quick well done to the Trimmers! Jason and Carolynn completed the fast, flat and beautiful Sydney Marathon today in 2.56 and 3.53, continuing to do Chiltern Harriers proud down under. Awesome running guys! (We miss you….)
