An impressive number of Harriers were representing the county at the English National Schools Track & Field Championships in Birmingham on 13 and 14 July. Lily Holt equalled her outdoor high jump PB to come 6thoverall in the Intermediate Girls’ competition and Cameron Reid was 5thin Intermediate Boys’ 800m in a time of 1.57.23. There were also great performances from Angus Williams, Orla Williams, Alex Aldred, Joe Eggleton, James Spicer and Robyn Watkins. Look out for full reporting from Steve Perkin.
At the other end of the scale, several intrepid Harriers braved the heat (and more than 900m of climbing) to complete the Chiltern Challenge 50k, organised by local company XNRG and supporting charity Humanity Direct. Sam Reed was the first to finish in a very credible time of 5.24.24. He was joined by: Mairead O’Rourke in her ultra debut in 5.57.47; Dave Bellamy in 6.00.53; Tim Dawson and Annelize Colquhoun in 6.43.06; Miriam Kempson in 7.06.21 and Harriet Lemon, who walked round in 8.28.47. Well done guys!
