On Saturday 18 March Grant Whitaker was, I believe, the only Harrier taking part in the Ashbridge Boundary Run – a 16-mile trail race round the beautiful (if challenging) Ashbridge estate. Grant finished the event in 2.32.34.
Rickmansworth Park Run saw Chiltern Harriers on top this weekend. James Repper was first male (17:41) and Mairead O’Rourke was first female (19:51). Following them home were Katie Repper (21:38); David Saul (22:23); Giles Greenhalgh (22:57); David Williams (with buggy 24:12); Steve Boyden-Wilson (26:07) and Paul Treadwell (28:54). At Black Park, Ian Lawson was the first Harrier home in 20:43. Following him were Tim Dawson (23:48); Robert Gill (a new PB of 24:23); Rosemary Davenport (25:58) and Birthday Boy Matt Channer (27:30). Three Harriers braved the steps at Wycombe Rye. They were Jay Grigson (20:41) and your humble reporters, Ellie beating Neil with times of 22:09 and 22:10.
Further afield, Rachel and Tom Ayres were at Ally Pally, clocking 24:49 and 25:04 respectively. Doug King achieved 28:15 at Gadebridge. In Aylesbury, Tony Molesworth came home in 32:25. Lyn Mellor was in Cassiobury for her 50th Parkrun and finished in 23:36. Even further afield, Shaheen Dent was at Rutland Water (Oakham) clocking 29:56 and Adam Jones finished Bryn Bach in 21:44.
Today, Sunday 19 March, was truly half-marathon-tastic, and Chiltern Harriers AC runners put in some good times, despite the windy conditions. Paula Walker was the only Harrier at the Hampton Court Palace Half, which she completed in 2.35.31. Barbara Ralph was first in the FV60 category at the Fleet Half Marathon, with a very respectable time of 1.45.00. And finally, results could not have been much tighter at the Reading Half Marathon today. Nathan Taylor and Louise Durman came home in 1.24.24 and 1.24.25, respectively (a massive 90 second PB for Louise). Both Ali Young and Hywel Thomas clocked times of 1.28.26. Following them were: new club member Ben Hetherington (1.29.04); Nick Marsh (1.33.52); Alan Hornibrook (1.44.37), Tom Powell (1.44.38), Richard Lloyd (1.46.43) and David Holmes (1.58.23). Well done everyone!
