Matt Channer, Matt Robins and Katie Royals took part in a veritable fiesta of running on the south coast, as part of Bournemouth running festival. Not content to compete in just one event, Matt R ran the 5k (21.36) and 10k (43.52) on Saturday followed by the half marathon on Sunday, completing this in 1.45.05. And all after doing parkrun on Saturday morning! Matt C completed the 5k in 22.44 and the full marathon in 4.06.48, with Katie finishing the half in 2.04.13. Well done guys!
A bit closer to home, David Breingan tackled hills, thrills and obstacles on a completely off road route as part of the Bradenham Bolt 10k, finishing in 46.05 while, over in the big smoke, Grant Whitaker dodged hipsters and overpriced coffees to complete the Shoreditch 10k in an impressive time of 42.03. In the West End, Tessa Passey joined thousands of other runners to complete the Royal Parks Half Marathon in a time of 1.51.11.
At the Ridgeway Run, Kate Loach came first in the Vet55 category and 10th lady overall, finishing the approximately 15k route in 1.13.05. Other Harriers joining her were Jonathan Taylor (1.08.08), Tim Dutfield (1.20.13), David Saul (1.20.26), Lyn Mellor (1.28.09) and Mark Fry (1.30.38).
In other news this week, Harriers got together to celebrate Parkrun’s 13th birthday. David Howells picked up a PB at Wycombe (20.48) while Tim Dawson celebrated his 200th Parkrun by volunteering his time as the 29 minute pacer.
Over at Rickmansworth, Mairead O’Rourke was first lady home in 19.21 and Ellie Bates bagged first position out of all the ladies running at Wyre Forest Parkrun. Well done everyone!
