The meeting lived up to its name with many PBs achieved.
Although 3000m and steeplechase were on offer, the Chiltern runners stuck to 800m or 1500m
The Men’s B race lacked a pacemaker and none of the lads wanted to take the race on. This led to a slow first lap and U20 Adam Day, third in 1.59.57 and U17 Cameron Reid fourth in 1.59.68 were disappointed.
The C race however was a great race for Chiltern. Under 20s Harry Cox and Sam Howell smashed their PBs by three seconds with Harry winning in 1.56.68 and Sam second in 1.56.92. U17 Alex Aldred also had a great run to be fourth in a big new PB of 1.58.80.
U20 Jake Alderson ran well in the E race to run 2.03.07, a couple of hundredths off his PB. Rhys Arnold (U17) ran a PB of 2.05.14 in the F race and U15 Nathan Hackley continued his great season with a new best of 2.07.34 in the G race. The I race saw a good effort from U15 Matt Aldred in 2.20.69.
The female 800m runners were also in form. U20 Robyn Watkins, now at boarding school in Somerset, won the F race in a season’s best 2.17.00. In the
I race U15s Jinaan Lockwood and Carys Arnold ran PBs to be second and third in 2.28.77 and 2.29.16 respectively. U17 Soraya Lockwood ran a season’s best 2.36.71. The Mixed K race was won in a huge new PB by U15 Alice Brown in 2.28.63.
U17 Angus Williams was third in the C race in 4.07.91, just a few days after setting a PB at Watford. In the G race U15 Woody Jackson was off his best in 4.57.45. The H race saw U13s Leon Doran, 5.02.72, and Max Baxter, 5.09.22, gain good experience.
The Women’s B race saw in-form U15 Orla Williams second in 4.45.85, another ESAA qualifying performance but just outside her PB. U17 Jane Williamson ran solidly for 4.54.79 in the same race. In the D race U15 Abbie Henderson again went under 5 minutes with 4.58.07 and Holly Henderson gained a new PB of 5.00.65. After recent illness U13 Frankie Baxter was off her best in 5.14.99. In the Mixed F race U15 Alicia Bushell with 5.06.93, and U13 Ella Botha with 5.07.03 both had good runs, and in the Mixed F race Rosa Williams ran 5.20.57 and U17 Emily Alderson a season’s best 5.31.82
