There were many excellent runs with some of the older (year 8 and above) athletes being invited to take part for Bucks Schools in the English Schools Championships in Norwich next month.
The 5/6 boys also did well. In a closely fought affair, the race winner was newcomer Thomas Redmond. Max Baxter was fifth, Alfie Clifford sixth and Alex Hughes ninth.
The Minor (year 7) girls race was dominated by the Henderson twins with Abbie and Holly crossing the line together, thirty seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Also running well were Charlotte Hilton in 11th and Alice Brown in 15th.
Woody Jackson ran aggressively to win the Minor boys race and was followed in by four other Chiltern lads –Tom Emery, Cormac Nisbet, Matt Aldred and Teague Eaton. Harry Vintner was not far behind in eighth.
The Junior Girls race was the first of the qualifying races for selection to the Bucks Schools teams. Orla Williams, a first year in the age group, had a stunning race, going toe-to-toe with one of the country’s leading year 9s, Kirsten Stilwell. Orla was a clear second, just a few seconds down. Also having good runs in this one were Alicia Bushell in 8th, Katie Repper 9th, Millie Hughes 11th, Olivia Cameron 14th, Laura Williams 15th, and Jinaan Lockwood 18th.
Angus Williams dominated the Junior boys race, winning by 25 seconds. Chiltern boys filled the podium with Alex Aldred second and Tom Job third. Other Chiltern boys featuring in a big race of 115 were Tom Hunter (12th), Matt Clifford (15th), Zach Rahaman (20th), James Watson (22nd), Luke Martin (29th), and Will Shield (38th).
The Intermediate girls run alongside the Seniors creating a big race. In the Inters Soraya Lockwood had a solid run to be 12th. Also in the Inters was Beth Welham in 20th. In the Seniors Hannah Thear was third, Emily Bannister 5th, Lizzie Barraclough 8th, Orla Fawcett 9th and Jess Orr 10th.
The boys also combine the Seniors and Inters. In the Inters race Tommy Davies had a good run to be sixth. Also packing well inside the top half of a field of 74 were Oliver Jackson 15th, Mike Day 16th, Cameron Reid 18th, Edward Watson 19th, Cam Hathaway-Enright 33rd, and Jamie Trimmer 50th.
Richard Slade continued his great season to take second place in the Seniors race. Also in the mix for English Schools places were Harry Cox 5th, Will Brown 6th, Rob Hall 6th and George Brown 11th.
