After an eleven year gap away from the event, the DCGS teams did well, coming eighth and twenty-third respectively from the fifty-one competing teams.
The DCGS A team featured six athletes, Harry Cox, Cameron Reid, Will Perkin, Richard Slade, Angus Williams, and Rob Hall, each tackling a leg of 2.3 miles, most on tarmac paths but with also a tricky slippery section through woodland. The B team comprised Alex Aldred, Will Brown, Seb Mills, Tommy Davies, Ed Watson and George Brown.
After the fast first leg Harry Cox (12.35) brought the A team home in 12th place with Alex Aldred (13.02) a few places behind for the Bs. On the second leg Cameron Reid (13.00) consolidated his position on the A team and Will Brown (12.48) moved up a few for the Bs. On the third leg Will Perkin (12.02) moved the As up to fifth, and Seb Mills (14.05) brought the Bs in the 20s.
Richard Slade (12.43) kept the A team competitive in about eighth place and Angus Williams (12.43) and Rob Hall (13.03) kept the A team comfortably in 8th. Tommy Davies (13.19), Ed Watson (13.24) and an injury-impaired George Brown (14.26) completed the B team performance, achieving a commendable 23rd, well inside the top half of finishing teams and the fourth ‘B’ team.
