Kicking things off with parkrun, there was a first placed finish for Maddie Hughes at Rickmansworth in a time of 19.38. There were also a good number of all-time parkrun PBs for Harriers yesterday, Saturday 10 August: Savarnah Pandya (22.51 at Ricky); George Fotherby (21.32 at Wycombe Rye); Euan and Archie Pinder (20.17 and 21.06, respectively, at Sewerby). Finally, over on the Emerald Isle Grant Whitaker celebrated parkrun number 100 at Porterstown parkrun with a time of 20.55.
There was a great turn out for Chiltern Harriers at the Burnham Beeches Half Marathon and 10k (and therefore lots of points put on the board for this year’s Club Senior Champs). Leading the Club home in the half marathon was Ross Jarman, in his first ever race over that distance, and a very respectable time of 1.26.18 and 5thplace overall. He was joined shortly by Tom Pickett in 1.28.11 (a five minute PB), and then: Yours Truly (1.31.50); Ian Lawson (1.35.41); James Grant (1.40.02); Hywel Thomas (1.43.34); David Saul (1.50.53); Rashila Wanninayake (1.57.05); Miriam Kempson (1.57.14); Katherine Day (1.59.06); Mark Fry (1.59.41); Kate Paxton (2.01.08); Harriet Lemon (2.05.08) and Tamsin Finch (2.12.57). In the 10k event, Richard Moss was the first Harrier home in 40.05. Joining him were: Paul McCarthy (41.44); Kingsley Nanton (42.27); Sarah Quantrill (42.42) and David Howells (42.57).
COMING UP LOCALLY: Last Friday of the Month 5k, Englefield 10k, Bovingdon 10k and the Club’s very own Shardeloes 10k. Check out the Club Calendar for more.
DON’T FORGET: on Tuesday 13 August, seniors’ training will be a 5-mile handicap run in Lowndes Park, Chesham. Meet at the Academy at 1930, as usual, but (ideally) provide your expected pace per mile to Trevor Brawn and / or Mike Shrive in advance. More info on Facebook and Slack.
