With Spring around the corner, the road running season is definitely heating up and there were a number of great runs by Harriers this weekend. Matts Channer and Robins took part in the ‘Jaw dropper ultra’ on Saturday, running 29.5 miles (according to the official results, I note that Strava says 31) in a time of 4hrs53.
There were a number of half marathons taking place on Sunday 18 February. Peter Gould was the only Harrier taking part in the Hampton Court Half, in a blistering time of 1.15.39. Meanwhile at the Milton Keynes Winter Half (re-scheduled from December 2017), Michael Turney was the first Harrier home in 1.23.37. He was joined by: Nathan Taylor (1.24.54), Bex Nkoane (1.27.44 - 3rd female overall), Alan Hornibrook (1.41.11 - 2nd V60), Miriam Kempson (1.58.33 – a well-deserved PB) and Tamsin Finch (2.13.36).
In Essex, Andy Hickman took part in the Test Track 10 (mile), completing the event in 1.19.16 (according to Strava).
And finally, three Harriers braved the Hardwick X-Stream this year in what looked to be particularly wet conditions. Neil Bates was the first Harrier home, coming in in an impressive 16th position overall and with a time of 43.54. He was joined by Helen Cholawo in 51.32 and Julia Aliaj in 55.10.
COMING UP LOCALLY: Last Friday of the Month 5k, Hillingdon Half, Baldock Beast Half and the Berko Half (the penultimate event in the Senior Championship). Check out the Club Calendar for more.
