Moving on to this week, we’ll start with a congratulations and thank you to Steve Field for orchestrating yet another successful Junior Triathlon this morning. Amongst the 200 or so competitors, there were a number of Chiltern Harriers AC athletes, with many of them earning themselves podium finishes. Full results here.
Yesterday, Saturday 23 June, Aran Davidson earned himself a new 5k PB at the Southern Athletics meet, finishing 2nd in 16.48. Ouch. In further 5k news, at parkrun there were all-time PBs for Matt Lawrence and John Webber (20.36 and 22.15 at Rickmansworth); and William Barnett (20.08 at Heslington, York). There were course PBs for Josiah and Sam Meldrum (31.35 at Black Park); Nick Hughes (17.15 at Rickmansworth) and Bradley Williams (21.50 at Wycombe Rye). Ali Young and Louise Fry both took home first place finishes (19.18 at Rickmansworth and 20.45 at Wycombe rye, respectively). And finally Mairead O’Rourke celebrated parkrun number 100 at Rickmansworth, completing the event in 20.52. Well done everyone!
Martin Allen was the only Harrier to complete the Harry Hawkes 10 mile race today in Thames Ditton, finishing in 1.32.16. Official results are still pending for the Hitchin Hard Half and 10k, the Thame 10k (where there were a number of Chiltern Harriers competing, according to Strava Nathan Taylor did 38.52 and Patrick Ahern – 42.43) and the Silsoe Stride.
And finally, a quick mention for Harriet Lemon and Miriam Kempson, who have spent the weekend completing the Three Peaks Challenge. Harriet and Miriam successfully climbed the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within the target time of 24 hours. That is no mean feat. Well done ladies!
