Race Report 19 - 20 January: Fred Hughes 10, Slough New Year 10k, parkrun

20/1/2019

I hope you have all enjoyed some crisp, cold winter runs this weekend, as I did.
We’ll start as per tradition with parkrun results from yesterday, Saturday 19 January. It’s great to see Kate Loach back in Race Report, following a successful knee operation last year. Kate reached the milestone of parkrun number 50 in a time of 22.05 yesterday at Cassiobury Park. There were first place finishes for Orla Williams (19.18 at Ricky) and our Harrier Down Under Jason Trimmer (21.02 at Rouse Hill, Australia). Joining Orla at Rickmansworth, Ben Jackson and Katie Royals both earned themselves all-time parkrun PBs (18.03 and 22.16, respectively), as did Emily Stead at Wycombe (22.34) and John Webber at Woodley (23.17). Finally there were course PBs for Veronica Pearce (29.07 at Rickmansworth) and Charlotte Docwra (25.12 at Wendover).

Today, Sunday 20 January, at the Fred Hughes 10 mile in St Albans, husband and wife team Richard and Sylvia Moss completed the undulating course in 1.07.01 and 1.15.27, respectively. In Slough Matt Robins managed a very respectable 10thposition in the New Year 10k (41.26), joined by Ruth Holroyd (55.28).

And finally, a quick mention for (former) Harriers Justin Fowler and Trevor Lee Poole. The Pirates were out in the mud at Stowe. Justin completed the 6k trail run in 23.30. Trevor – the 12k, in 1.00.16.

COMING UP LOCALLY: Last Friday of the Month 5k, Watford Half Marathon, the final Chiltern Cross Country League, Hardwick X-Stream and the Harrow Hill 10km. Check out the Club Calendar for more.
