On Friday 27 September Sylvia Moss took on the London speed hounds in the monthly Last Friday of the Month 5k, organised by Serpentine AC, finishing in 22.28.
Moving on to Saturday 28 September and parkrun, specifically, there were first placed finishes for Alden Collier (18.11 at Rickmansworth); Zoe Gilbody (19.43 at Telford); and Louise Fry (21.46 at Seaford Beach). Marea Logan and Laura Gardner were rewarded were all-time parkrun PBs at Rickmansworth (20.32) and Hasenheide, Germany (26.13), respectively.
Roger Ellerby was the only Harrier in action at the Windsor Half Marathon today, Sunday 29 September, overcoming recent injury to complete the event in 2.29.55 (Strava time). Meanwhile (or, actually, several hours earlier) our favourite Harriers Down Under took on the first race of the Sydney Trail Series in St Ives. Jason and Carolynn Trimmer were both 1stplaced in their respective age categories in the 24km event, with Jason finishing 5th overall. Jason clocked 2.15.57 and Carolynn – 3.04.51.
And finally, after more than four decades of committed service to Chiltern Harriers, Martyn Cartwright has retired from his roles of coach to the junior athletes and young athletes’ coordinator on the Club’s management committee. We would like to thank Martyn for his dedication and hard work over the years, and hope that he finds some more time for himself in the future!
