No wind and a coolish temperature afforded absolutely perfect running conditions for the 7th annual Shardeloes 10k today, Sunday 17 September. Chiltern Harriers AC were dominant in one of their home races, with no less than 42 out of the 250+ finishers representing the club and many of the prizes going their way.
The men’s race was closely fought, with Allan Stewart winning in 37.28, followed by Nick Hughes in 37.37 and Richard Slade in 39.38 – all three Chiltern Harriers. Meanwhile in the women’s event first place went to Louise Fry of Chiltern (45.29); second was Claire Pusey of Burnham Joggers (46.28) and third was Susan Jarman of Chiltern (47.28). Chiltern Harriers took both the men’s and women’s team prizes with George Gillingwater and yours truly making up the numbers. GE Healthcare were the first fun team.
The 10k was followed by the well-supported family fun run, which saw around 50 youngsters run a 1-mile course around the scenic Amersham Cricket Club. Chiltern brother and sister Max and Frankie Baxter were first boy and girl, both clocking times of under 6 minutes.
