From five age groups there was a win for the U13 girls and silvers for the U13 boys, U15 boys and U17 men, the best medal haul for the club in this competition.
The U13 girls were next up and Ella Botha got the team off to a solid start with an 8.08 leg to come in 12th on the 2k circuit. Abbie Henderson ran an excellent second leg to bring the team up to second. Abbie’s time of 7.35 was the fastest of the whole U13 girls race. Holly Henderson ran 7.37 on the final leg to earn the win by ten seconds from second placed Guildford. The B team also ran well with Alice Brown (8.16), Hannah Ashby (8.02), and Ellie Shield (8.46) coming 13th from 34 complete teams. Olivia Conner ran well in the incomplete C team to run 8.43.
The U13 boys were out in force and the A team was second, the B team third and the C team eighth from 28 complete teams. The A team of Thomas Redmond (7.13), Matt Aldred (7.19) and Cormac Nisbet (7.06) all ran very well with Cormac second fastest of the race. The B team of Tom Emery (7.32), Woody Jackson (7.15) and Laurie Gawne (7.30). The C team of Jamie Powell (8.02), Nathan Sweeney (7.43) and Teague Eaton (7.36) all performed well and Oakley Denson gained good experience to run 8.25 in an incomplete D team.
Jane Williamson was the pick of the Chiltern U15 girls, running 7.25 on the second leg (this was fifth fastest of the whole race) and moving the team from 18th to 6th. Previously Jinaan Lockwood had run 8.01 in the first leg and the final leg saw Ella Peters run 7.57 to achieve a very creditable ninth place overall. In an incomplete B team Alicia Bushell ran 8.14 and Laura Williams 8.28.
The final Chiltern interest of the day saw another medal, courtesy of the U15 boys. The A team of Louis Peterson (7.01), Alex Aldred (6.34) and Alex Johnson (7.03) were a clear second. Alex Aldred’s leg was second fastest of the race. The B team also did well to come 19th, Rhys Arnold running an excellent 6.55 on the first leg, with James Watson (7.43) and Dan Beatty (7.58) completing the team.
Earlier Hannah Thear had run in an incomplete U20 women’s team, running well for 8.44 on the 2.5k route. Sophie Morton (8.52) and Soraya Lockwood (9.46) ran in an incomplete U17 women’s team.
