It was 1500m on show and conditions didn’t look promising with grey skies and some drizzle. However the temperature was fine and there was little wind so actually quite good for middle distance running. Of the 17 Chiltern athletes taking part, 14 ran PBs.
U15 Ellie Shield has been making good progress this season and here she took six seconds off her best with a committed run of 5.22.89. U13 Olivia Clarke ran well for 5.27.18 and fellow U13 Lily Jessop-Tranter ran a PB of 5.27.78 just behind. U13 Beth Togneri made her debut in the distance with a strong finish for 5.40.97.
U13 Archie Pinder ran away from the field for a win in a PB 4.58.57. U13 Alfie Clifford was just outside his PB with 5.10.66, and there was a PB for U13 Ethan McCall of 5.16.23.
U13s Euan Pinder and Isaac Jessop-Tranter had a great battle in this one with both getting PBs, Euan with 4.48.43 and Isaac 4.51.05. U13 Alex Hughes also gained a PB with 5.08.31.
A third Chiltern win came from U13 Max Baxter in a PB of 4.49.64. U15 Maddie Hughes ran a huge race, taking 12 twelve seconds off her best to record 4.53.84. U13 Leon Doran ran a solid 5.01.40.
Frankie Baxter (U13) also smashed her best with a powerful run of 4.44.91. This takes Frankie up to second in the national rankings.
U17 Matt Clifford put in a strong performance to log a PB of 4.37.88.
Another Chiltern win came in this one, courtesy of U17 Alex Aldred. With a strong last lap Alex ran a PB of 4.06.78.
U17 Alex Johnson was in a brisk race and ran a big PB of 4.01.66, a National Standard English Schools qualifying time, and well inside the national top 20.
