There were several good performances in the YDL Lower Age Group match to enjoy and a few event wins.
A small team worked hard with each girl tackling three events. Frankie Baxter was second in the 1200m in 4.00.0 and also helped in 150m and shot. Ella Botha made a good debut in high jump, getting over 1.20m. Ella was also third in 800m and helped in long jump. Marea Logan was third in B string 800m and also performed well in A string hurdles and B string long jump. Rosa Williams looked after B string high jump, 1200m and javelin. Maddie Hughes did well in A string javelin and 75m, and ran well in non-scoring 800m.
Under 13 Boys
John Broadis logged a PB of 4.49m to be second in the A string long jump. John also competed in A string hurdles and high jump. Isaac Jessop-Tranter looked after 100m and 200m (PB of 29.4) and shot. Thomas Redmond ran strongly to win the 1500m A string in a big PB of 4.43.4 and Sammy Bennetts added a B string victory. Sammy also helped with B string high jump. Noah Hobson threw a shot PB of 6.22m and helped with B string long jump. Euan Pinder was third in A string 800m and ran well for a 100m debut of 14.9. Ethan McCall was third in A string javelin and also helped with B string 200m. Rowan Gawne and Jamie Powell had a good battle to be first and second in non-scoring 800m and Jamie also helped with third place in B string javelin. Max Baxter ran in B string 800m and non-scoring 100m.
Under 15 Girls
Isabelle Nero ran well in 200m and 300m, securing a PB of 44.9 in 300m. Alice Brown ran B string 300m and also ran well for 2.29.3 and third in B string 800m. Holly Henderson ran close to a PB of 2.25.4 in A string 800m to be fourth and was also fourth in 75m hurdles. Orla Williams was second in A string 1500m and Abbie Henderson won the B string. Carys Arnold contributed well in long jump and high jump. Jinaan Lockwood (2.31) and Alicia Bushell (2.33) ran well in non-scoring 800m. Jess Cook performed well in B string hurdles and hammer, and threw a PB of 7.71m in A string shot. Caitlin Gregory threw well with a PB in hammer of 18.97m and good efforts in discus and shot. Lily Gregory gained PBs of 14.93 in discus and 18.93m in javelin to win the B string. Amelia Peck was third in A string javelin.
Under 15 Boys
James Spicer made his usual strong contribution in 100m, 200m and javelin. Lewis Fee won 300m in a PB of 38.9 and also helped with discus and shot. Adam Winstanley ran a PB of 40.5 in B string 300m to be second and also took on B string long jump. Saajan Jassy ran B string 100m and helped in B string discus. Finn Hobson put in another good shift in A string long jump and high jump, and B string 200m. All the middle distance runners gained PBs. Louis Peterson was second in A string 800m in 2.11.9 with Charlie Stone third in B string in 2.15.8. In 1500m Matt Aldred ran 4.39.4 in A string with Finn O’Brien on 4.43.7 in B string. Luke Douglas looked after B string high jump (PB of 1.35m) and ran non-scoring 100m. The relay teams did well with the 4 x 100m quartet, Luke, Saajan, Adam and James fourth, and the 4 x 300m of Lewis, Charlie, Finn O’Brien and Finn Hobson running a massive season’s best of 2.48.4 to be second.
