Cassiobury Park was witness to another Allan Stewart victory during the parkrun on Saturday 10th October. Allan (SM20-24) recorded a blistering time of 16.28. Wow. Kate Loach (VW50-54) was 4th lady in 21.06, just 6 seconds off of her PB and Andrew Stewart (VM55-59) made his return in 21.31. In Black Park Ade McCormack (VM50-54) came home in 21.37, joined by: Shaheen Dent (VW55-59) – 28.59; Matt Channer (VM35-39) – 31.05; and Martin (VM65-69) and Tom Powell (SM30-34) in 38.19 and 38.21. Richard Lloyd was the only Harrier in Tring this week for parkrun, which he did in 28.07. Finally, at Wycombe Rye Guy Johnson (VM55-59) came home in 23.01 and was followed by Tom Ayres (VM35-39) – 24.52 and Yee-King Tham (VW55-59) – 30.32.
On Sunday 11th October there were some fantastic half marathon performances from Chiltern Harriers. In Oxford Ali Young was second in the F40 category, with a time of 1.29.09. Everything came together for Tom Powell and Matt Channer, who were rewarded with PB performances of 1.34.45 and 1.56.25, respectively. Matt Lawrence finished in 1.34.49 and Pip Harris improved on her recent Cheltenham Half performance with a strong 1.56.20. At the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon new club member Louis Barnes got round in a very respectable 1.42.07, whilst Hywel Thomas came within 6 seconds of his PB in 1.27.06 and finishing 174th out of the 16,000 runners that took part. North Pyper was the only Harrier in action in the 33rd running of the Henley Half Marathon, which he completed in 02.07.10
Elsewhere the club was wonderfully represented at the popular Tring Ridgeway Run – a challenging trail race that takes participants on a 15km course around the Ashridge Estate. Fabian Downs, having finished a fantastic 2nd at the first Chiltern League match of the season on Saturday, went one better at Tring, winning the men’s competition in 0.52.40. Well done! He was joined by Grant Whitaker (MV50) – 1.10.14; Kate Loach, who was 2nd FV45 in 1.13.59; Tim Dutfield (MV50) – 1.15.28; Jonathan Clarke – 1.20.31; Mark Fry (MV50) – 1.35.00; Annelie Whitfield (FV45) – 1.40.51 and Tamsin Finch (FV35) – 1.42.39.
Whilst in the Herts 10k in Harpenden (a multi-terrain race) Toby Smith was the 2nd junior home in a fantastic 40.06 and was joined by Scott Clarke (MV40) in 48.53.
