Mike ‘I’ll-never-run-that-fast-again-I’ve not-got-the-speed’ Turney put in a blinding performance at Black Park, coming very close to his lifetime PB and managing 10th position in 18.56.
Dave Williams and daughter Amelia were back in buggy parkrun action at St Albans, managing a very respectable 22.04. Louise Durman was first lady and managed a PB time on the Wycombe Rye course – 19.04. Behind her: Roger Ellerby, with a new PB of 21.10; Tom Ayres – 24.56; Doug Smith – 26.29 (PB) and Yee-King Tham – 28.45, also a PB. In Buckingham Trevor Poole was in packing mode, leading running newbie Libby Petch-Stewart round in a creditable 32.46. And finally, Jay Grigson was 9th at Tring, taking part in the event for the first time, and clocking a speedy 22.33. He was joined by Trevor Brawn – a new PB of 27.04; Evangelina and Gabriel Baker in 32.56 and 32.55, respectively.
Elsewhere on Saturday 19 March, two Chiltern Tri athletes completed the gruelling 16.5 miles of trails of the Ashridge Boundary Run. Steve Cliffe finished in 2.04.11; John O’Grady – 2.11.46. Fiona Williams and Gill Baxter took part in the Windsor Half Marathon, completing the race in 1.59.00 and 2.03.44, respectively.
On Sunday 20 March Isabelle Winter finished the Hastings Half Marathon in 2.26.43. A little closer to home Matthew Robins and David Holmes took part in the Welwyn Half, managing great times of 1.41.12 and 1.59.57. Peter Gould continued to look impressive at the Vitality North Half Marathon, producing a speedy 1.19.42. He was joined by John and Lisa Walker in 1.44.51 and 2.02.22. Both Emily Bannister and Cormac Nisbet finished in 6th position in their respective 10 and 5k races at Heyford Park Airbase. Emily produced a a strong 47.15.2; Cormac – 19.01.06.
