Mike Turney had a great run at Black Park, coming 5th overall in the parkrun on Saturday 13 February, in 19.16. He was joined by: Matthew Robins – 20.48; Luke Jefferys – with a new PB of 21.43; Laura Hayers – 22.29; Ian Lawson – 22.59; Scott Getley – 24.39; Matt Channer- 26.12; Tim Dawson – 33.22 and the Gregory family – Caitlin, Sarah, Lily, Oscar and Brian all did fantastically, clocking times of 26.38, 27.30. 28.35, 34.16 and 34.17, respectively.
On 14 February Matthew Robins took part in the Love Welwyn Garden City 10k, clocking a time of 43.41 on a tough course.
Andrew Stewart had a ‘bling-tastic’ time at the South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley today. He scooped up no less than four (!) medals, plus a PB in the 200m: gold and silver in the VETS Athletics Championships, plus silver and bronze in the South of England champs. Awesome stuff, Andrew! His advice: “If you like medals, VET indoors is the way to go. V35 and upwards.”
Frank Harris and I were the only Harriers to brave the Hardwick X-Stream this year. Despite relatively shallow stream crossings, conditions were slippy underfoot, making for slower times than in previous years. I was 2nd lady for the second year in a row (44.20) and Frank Harris finished the challenging 6 mile event in 1.09.45. Today was the fourth consecutive year that I have done Hardwick and I am always a little saddened that there is not a stronger CHAC contingent taking part. Looking back through results 1993 – 2015, CHAC had no less than 14 individual male or female wins. It’s a great local race: well-organised, really friendly and brilliant fun. You get a horse brass when you finish. Next year, I’d like to see a few more of you having a go.
Official results from the Bramley 10 /20 are now in. Pip Harris completed the 10 mile event in 1.33.02, Tom Powell finished the 20 in a convincing 2.50.47, Tamsin Finch - 3.25.23.
I’d finally like to give a quick mention to Jamie Powell, who took part in the Hertfordshire Schools Cross Country Champs on Saturday 6 February, finishing 29th in the Year 5-6 race. Full race report available here.
