Race Report 25 - 26 February: National Cross-Country, parkrun, Thorpe Park and Brighton Half Marathons, Bourton 10k and Winslow Lions 10k
Judging from the results at various events over the past weekend, Chiltern Harriers AC survived Storm Doris unscathed. Before we move on to the events of 25 – 26 February, a quick mention for Mark Bruce, who, I am reliably informed, was first veteran last week at the Hillingdon 10k. Well done, Mark!
Chiltern Harriers young cross country runners kept the medals coming with a stellar performance at the National Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday.
After great results at the Southern Championships in January it was always looking possible for some teams to be competitive on the national stage, and team silvers for the U13 girls, bronzes for the U13 boys and fourth place for the U15 boys were superb efforts in this highest level of inter-club races.
Under 15 Lily Holt had a great competition in Sheffield at the National Indoor Track and Field Championships for U20, U17 and U15 athletes.
Lily equalled her recently set PB for high jump, clearing 1.55m to take the bronze medal in the U15 age group. Lily is currently ranked 8th in the whole of the UK.
X-Stream Race Report 18 - 19 February 2017: parkrun, Veterans Athletics Club, Hillingdon Half, Bramley 20 and Hardwick
Good evening all! I’m afraid that this week’s Race Report does contain a few unverified (ie. taken from Strava) results, as some of the races are yet to get their results up online. What is undoubtedly true is that this weekend has been a busy one for Chiltern Harriers AC!
Before we go too far into this weekend’s racing, a quick mention for Andrew Stewart, who earnt himself a gold and silver in the 200m and 800m, respectively, at an indoor Veterans Athletics Club event last Sunday at Lee Valley. The 800m was an indoor PB of 2.37. Good work!
Chiltern Harriers had an excellent day at the final Chiltern Cross Country League match of the season at a cold and grey Campbell Park, Milton Keynes on Saturday.
The club were second on the day and nearly caught rivals Bedford and County for second place overall, the final scores being 15,939 to 15,884.
Several Chiltern Harriers were taking part for their schools in the Buckinghamshire Schools Cross Country Championships at Hughenden Park, High Wycombe on Wednesday.
There were many excellent runs with some of the older (year 8 and above) athletes being invited to take part for Bucks Schools in the English Schools Championships in Norwich next month.
Well done Mike Worsfold, who got his first ever first place at a parkrun, winning at South Oxhey on 4 February in 21.41, whilst fastest parkrun of the day went to Ollie Jackson at Black Park in 18.18.
The UK’s best student cross country runners gathered at Graves Park, Sheffield on Saturday to contest the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Cross Country Championships.
Chiltern Athletes also competed in the Hertfordshire and South East Schools Cross Country Championships
