Yesterday saw a number of parkrun wins and PB performances by Harriers locally. Ali Young topped the ladies at Black Park (19.53); whilst Allan Stewart and Peter Gould were overall winners at Cassiobury Park (16.01) and Ally Pally (18.21), respectively. There were all-time PBs for Jamie (20.04) and Carolynn Trimmer (22.53) at ‘The Ponds’ parkrun down under; and nearer to home Ruth Holroyd and Christine Moore also beat their parkrun PBs at Rickmansworth, clocking 24.46 and 24.53, respectively. Also at Rickmansworth, Matt Lawrence, Laura Hayers and Nat Baker earned themselves new course records – 21.37, 24.03 and 27.33. Well done all.
There were just two Chiltern Harriers AC senior men taking part in the SEAA Southern Masters Cross Country Championships on the tough hill at Horspath, Oxford on Saturday 9 December. Despite being sent the wrong way, on the second lap, a determined Martyn Cartwright had a turn of speed in the final straight to pick up a place to finish 15th in the Veteran Men (70+) (6000m). David Breingan ran well in the Masters Men 50 (10000m) to finish in a good position of 43rd.
And finally, Aran Davidson and Gemma Stockwell braved the snow today to take part in the Royal Parks Regent’s Park 10k. Despite the conditions, they both put in very respectable performances. Aran finished 3rd in 37.43 and Gemma came home in 57.04. Good work!
Fancy something different this week? See the below invitation from Tring Running Club:
Following previous successful very popular Invitation Evenings, Tring Running Club would be delighted to invite you and your Club Members to join us for this year's Winter Invitation run. The format will be similar to previous Invitation Evenings, held annually at this time of the year. However, due to so few runners staying on afterwards for the post run buffet on previous Winter Runs, it has not been economically viable to lay on any supper after the event this time around. We are planning to host this evening run on Wednesday 13th December, commencing at 7:30pm. As usual there will be a variety of routes and distances, to suit the majority of runners and standards.
For more details, please see the letter of invitation.
