Due to injuries, there were slightly fewer Harriers at the London Marathon today than in previous years, but, nonetheless, there were some excellent performances on a sunny day in the capital. Ali Young was the first of those home, with a brilliant time of 3.01.56, putting her 10th in her age category. Barbara Ralph also did well in her age category, finishing 13th (lucky for some) with a time of 3.49.57. Sandra Reynolds (3.19.52); Steve Field (4.07.12) and Kate Loach (3.49.54) also made the top 100 for their respective age categories. Andrew Wiseall ran a tactically-paced race, a successfully executed negative split bringing him in with a PB time of 3.04.24, and slightly ahead of Mairead O’Rourke in 3.09.54 – his running partner for much of the race. Hywel Thomas and Lean Ni Chiobhain once again both had great races, with times of 3.11.11 and 3.14.01, a PB for both of them. Glen Martin, who had one of the Club places this year, completed his first ever marathon in a very respectable 3.52.28, whilst Richard Lloyd completed his first ever marathon on 4.07.27. Jackie Leak completed the Harriers set in 5.58.54. David Walker, one of an elite group of ‘Everpresents’ who have run in every single London Marathon, completed the event in 6.05.55. Well done all!
