First of all, a quick mention for Ash Holmes, who it appears has been getting up to mad, obstacle race antics in the Lakes, completing the 10K Born Survivor at Lowther Castle on Saturday 9 September. Well done, Ash and team!
On Sunday 10 September Andrew ‘terror of the track’ Stewart was back in action, finishing 2nd in the V50 3k race at the Vets Team Finals in Bedford. Andy Hickman clocked an extremely respectable time of 1.31.22 (according to Strava, official results not available) in the Two Arms on Two Legs Half Marathon. Meanwhile, up North, five of us ran the legendary 13.1 miles from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to the coast in South Shields, which collectively make up the Great North Run. I was first Harrier home in 1.33.01, joined swiftly by Shields girl Susan Jarman in 1.34.04 – a massive half marathon PB for Susan. Neil Bates clocked a PB time of 1.34.16, followed by David Howells in 1.45.08 and David Saul in 1.49.41. All very respectable times and a great day out (Neil even high-fived Brendan Foster).
And finally, one last reminder that it is not too late to enter next Sunday’s Shardeloes 10k! If you are not running this year, Trevor Davies will always welcome more helpers, so please drop him an email if you can help on Saturday and/or Sunday with some aspect of the event.
