Gunpowder, treason and… jogs?
Chiltern Harriers AC runners put in some absolutely storming performances around the hills of Marlow in the Marlow Seven and Half. In the Half Marathon, Aran Davidson earned himself a PB (despite the tough course) of 1.23.11 and 10th place overall.
In sunnier climes Grant Whitaker took on a no less challenging (in fact, probably more challenging) half marathon yesterday, 4 November: the Dunas de Fuerteventura. Yes, your Spanish is not deceiving you, that is a half marathon described as “the only European half marathon race with almost its entire course in sandy dunes.” Grant did well to complete the event in 2.05.41 (strava time). Ouch. (Next step: Marathon des Sables, Grant?)
Before we mention yesterday’s parkrun news, a couple of belated mentions from last week. Firstly, Katherine Day completed the Ricky Road Run on Sunday 29 October in 1.32.46. And secondly, a number of our speedy juniors did Rickmansworth parkrun for the first time last weekend on Saturday 28 October. Ella Botha, Lesedi Nkoane and Marlie Nkoane all put in fab performances – respectively: 20.12, 20.12 and 24.59 – with Lesedi setting a new age category record for JW10. Go girls!
And in this week’s parkrun news, Miriam Kempson earned herself a PB of 26.47 at Black Park.
COMING UP LOCALLY: second Chiltern League Cross Country match, Herbert’s Hole (the next event in the Club Senior Champs) and the Watford Autumn 10k. See the Club Calendar for more.
