In grey, drizzly conditions, the Chiltern U13s and U15s won their third match of the campaign to close an excellent season. The match finished with Chiltern on 624 points, St Mary’s Richmond on 547, and Wycombe Phoenix on 539.5 in third. The League comprises eight clubs from Victoria Park in East London to Vale of Aylesbury in the west.
There were A string wins for Serena Gueye in 75m and shot, Abbie Henderson in 800m, and Holly Henderson in 1200m. B string wins came courtesy of Rosa Williams in 800m and Ella Botha in 1200m. Jemma Thomson logged PBs in B string 75m and 150m, Caitlin Gregory was second in B string shot and there was a PB for Gabi Riley in B string hurdles, in addition to a good effort in long jump. Carys Arnold scored her usual range of good points in long jump, high jump and javelin (season’s best 18.02m in third). Hannah Ashby won non-scoring 800m and Ellie Shield also ran well in that race and helped with a PB in B string javelin. Katie Atkinson gained experience in non-scoring 75m. The 4 x 100m relay team of Serena, Abbie, Rosa and Gabi ran a season’s best 57.2 for fourth.
Under 13 boys
A string wins came from Matt Aldred in 800m, Cormac Nisbet in 1500m (PB of 4.49.5), and Rex Vidal in long jump (PB of 4.61m). There were B string wins from Thomas Redmond in 1500m (PB of 5.00.7) and Adam Winstanley in shot. Rex Vidal, Adam Winstanley and Saajan Jassy looked after the sprints with Saajan running a PB of 13.9 to be second in A string hurdles, in addition to third in A string shot. Luke Douglas made a good debut to be equal second in high jump with 1.30m. Oakley Denson was third in A string javelin and second in B string 800m. Matt Aldred helped with useful points in hurdles and javelin. The 4 x 100m relay team of Rex, Adam, Luke and Saajan were second in a season’s best 54.6.
Under 15 Girls
Lily Holt won A string high jump and 75m hurdles (PB of 12.3), and Orla Williams won A string 1500m. Jinaan Lockwood won B string 1500m in a PB of 5.12.1. Good efforts in long jump came from Freya Guneratne and Anna Bayles who also ran a PB of 14.8 to be third in B string hurdles. Millie Hughes scored excellent points in javelin (2nd) shot (5th) and Hammer (4th). Olivia Cameron and Alicia Bushell ran well in 800m, Alicia recording a new PB of 2.36.0 to be second in the B string. Lucia Gonzalez-Bohr ran a PB of 14.0 in B string 100m and helped in shot. Laura Williams logged PBs in 200m (29.2) and 300m (45.5), and there were promising runs in non-scoring 800m from Gabriella Nero and Isabelle Nero. Lily Gregory did well in A string discus. The 4 x 300m quartet of Olivia Cameron, Orla Williams, Anna Bayles and Laura Williams ran a season’s best 3.11.3 to be fourth.
Under 15 Boys
Angus Williams won A string 1500m and B string shot, and there were further B string wins from Thomas Job in 800m, and Nathan Hackley in 1500m. Louis Greenaway scored PBs of 11.8 and 24.4 in the A string sprints and was second in shot, and James Spicer ran 12.5 (100m) and a PB of 25.1 (200m). Alex Aldred was narrowly second in both A string 800m and B string 300m. Thomas Job ran a PB of 40.0 in A string 300m. Jamie Carruthers and Luke Martin ran well in hurdles and non-scoring 800m, and Zach Rahaman logged a PB in long jump. In a very high quality 4 x 300m relay the Chiltern foursome of Thomas Job, Alex Aldred, Nathan Hackley and Angus Williams ran a season’s best 2.43.7, to be third.
The Chiltern Harriers team, now confirmed as winners of Division Central 1, go into a virtual ‘paper match’ with the winners of Division East 1 and Division West 1 to find out which two clubs go up to Premier 2 next season.
