For those who didn’t fancy crazy distances or clambering cargo nets, Saturday 15 September also saw some great parkrunning by Harriers. There were course PBs for: Ben Jackson (18.40 at Black Park) and Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney (18.33 at Wycombe Rye). Down under, Jason Trimmer took home first place at The Ponds parkrun in a time of 19.28. Meanwhile, closer to home Adam Pomerantz hit his 50th ever parkrun at Cassiobury Park (21.02) and Allan Stewart was rewarded with an all-time parkrun PB at Bushy parkrun, with a stunning time of 15.20. Well done!
And finally, before moving on to the Shardeloes 10k race report, Tom Dixon and Grant Whitaker were in action in road races today, Sunday 16 September. Tom ran a ‘casual’ 1.23.50 at the Harrow Half Marathon, meanwhile Grant completed Asics’ Clapham 10k in 44.28.
And now, moving on to Shardeloes: the day dawned cool, but the sun soon shone on Amersham Cricket Club for another enjoyable Shardeloes 10k. There were over 230 finishers, of which more than 30 were representing Chiltern Harriers AC.
In a closely-fought men’s race Vale of Aylesbury AC’s Charlie May came home with the victory, in a time of 37.01. Completing the podium were Chiltern’s own Nick Hughes (37.36) and Aran Davidson (38.03). The womens’ race was won by Jessica Downs (44.23), with second going to Lynda Hembury of Tring RC (48.27) and third to Mairead O’Rourke of Chiltern (48.59).
In the age categories prizes went to: Richard Slade (U20 – 38.49); Derek Lloyd (V40 – 49 – 39.37); Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney (V50 – 59 – 41.58); Michael Thompson (V60+ - 49.10); Catherine Holloway (V50 – 59 – 50.45); Christine Burroughs (V40 – 49 – 51.22); and Oonagh Thompson (V60+ - 57.08).
Chiltern Harriers AC took both the mens’ and womens’ team prizes, with the fun team prize going to the collected force of ‘Happy Harriers’. For the full results and event photos by Martyn Loach, click here.
