Conditions were tricky at Temple Newsam, Leeds with bitingly cold temperatures and strong winds but quite soft going underfoot.
The Junior Boys (Years 8 and 9) were up next with a team loaded with Chiltern runners. Woody Jackson rounded off a very good season as first Bucks scorer in 33rd. Louis Peterson was next Bucks runner home in 72nd, with Tom Emery third in 115th and Laurie Gawne fourth in 183rd. Ben Jackson, making his county debut was eighth Bucks finisher in a creditable 240th from 346.
The Junior Girls were similarly heavy with Chiltern athletes. Abbie Henderson and twin sister Holly had great runs as first years to be the first Bucks scorers in 24th and 25th from the field of 342. Alicia Bushell was fourth Bucks scorer in 109th with Alice Brown fifth scorer in 131st. Orla Williams had a rare off day to be eighth Bucks finisher in 219th. Buckinghamshire Schools were a creditable 8th from the 44th complete counties.
However Bucks best result was in the Intermediate Boys race, coming a fine 4th from 44. Contributing to this was Tommy Davies, fourth Bucks scorer in an excellent 55th place. Ben Smith was second Berkshire Schools runner home, finishing in 120th.
The penultimate race of the day was the Senior Girls (Years 12 and 13) and Sophie Morton had a great run to be second Herts Schools scorer in 84th. Emily Bannister was 247th and fifth Bucks scorer with Lizzie Barraclough was 289th and sixth scorer.
The Senior Boys was over a gruelling 7k circuit and Ollie Jackson was seventh Bucks finisher in 255th.
