The quickest Harrier round the course was Alistair Melville-Smith in a time of 3.08.23, followed by Ali Young (3.12.31); Nathan Taylor (3.13.03) and Mike Turney (3.18.14). Joining them were: Mairead O’Rourke (3.21.55); Mike Worsfold (3.37.16); Ed Wright (3.56.05); Cath Holloway (3.56.27); Matt Lawrence (4.46.38); Rik Edwards (4.49.40) and Katherine Day (4.55.17).
To bring you up to speed on other marathon news, Andrew Wiseall completed the Boston (UK) Marathon last weekend in a spectacular time of 2.58.15. Ash Holmes achieved ‘all the threes’ with a time of 3.33.33 at Brighton.
Going just that bit further, as ever, Dave Bellamy took part in the South Downs Way 50 miles race on 7 April – first of the four Centurion Running Grand Slam events in 2018. Dave finished in 9.42.06. On 31 March, Nick Marsh acheieved a new half marathon PB at the Lee Valley Velopark half on 31 March, with a time of 1.25.32. Further away from the Chilterns, on 13 April Neil Bates completed the Northern AC Mooragh Park race (3.7 miles) on the familiar territory of the Isle of Man, in a time of 25.33.
Susan Jarman is definitely deserving a special mention this week, finishing first lady in not one, but two (!) races. Susan won the 20k Warrior Adrenaline Run (a muddy obstacle course) on Saturday 21 April. She then went on to win the inaugural Ibstone Circle 5k on Sunday 22 April in 24.24. Well done, Susan!
And finally, moving on to today’s parkrun results: it was a new Black Park PB for Dave Howells, who finished 4th in 19.39. He was joined by a number of Harriers but also, more importantly, around a half dozen graduates of Tom and Pippa Powells’ ‘Couch to 5k’ group. Well done to all of the runners for finishing the run and especially to Tom and Pippa for helping them to achieve this goal! At Henley-on-Thames, Cormac Nisbet was first overall in a time of 20.40, whilst it was a good day for the Hughes’ clan at Cassiobury Park, with both Alex (18.49) and Maddie (21.50) acheieving new PBs. Well done everyone!
