Held At Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire, the hosts did a great job of creating new courses after the National Inter Counties Championships at the same venue two weeks earlier had turned the estate into a quagmire.
The 22 Chiltern athletes were mostly competing for the Bucks Swans team, although three were taking part for Hertfordshire.
Also running very well was Lesedi Nkoane who had an excellent run to be fourth. Marea Logan finished 32nd. The three girls were the first three Bucks Swans across the line and there were 252 finishers. Roxy McLellan also had a good run for Herts in 58th.
Also having a great run was Thomas Redmond who was second in the Year 7 Boys race. Thomas has also benefitted from exposure to top Under 1 cross country events and here was just two seconds behind the leader after a great head-to-head. Jamie Powell was 107th and Oakley Denson 138th.
The Year 7 Girls race saw a clutch of good Chiltern performances for Bucks Swans. Rosa Williams was 25th, Hannah Ashby 44th , Maddie Hughes 87th, and Ellie Shield 135th.
The highest placed Chiltern athlete in the Year 6 Boys race was Herts’ Leon Doran in 15th. Also running well for Bucks Swans were Max Baxter (48th), Rowan Gawne (50th), Isaac Jessop-Tranter (120th), Ethan McCall (125th), Alfie Clifford (128th) and Charlie Ventress (153rd)..
There were also Chiltern athletes in the Year 5 events. For the Boys Alex Hughes in 23rd and Danny Carruthers in 26th were well up for Bucks with Callum Powell running well for Herts in 27th.
Not to be outdone were Lily Jessop Tranter and Olivia Clarke who were 12th and 15th respectively in the Year 5 Girls race.
Altogether a great day for the Chiltern youngsters running, gaining invaluable experience for the future.,
