Highlights were an English Schools qualifying run of 4.44.7 in the U15 girls 1500m by Orla Williams, and a new U13 girls club record of 3.51.6 by Frankie Baxter in the 1200m. There were many PBs from the U13 and U15 athletes taking part.
Orla Williams held back off a fast opening lap, but came through strongly to win the A string 1500m in a PB of 4.44.7, well under English Schools qualifying. Holly Henderson won the B string with 5.09.0. In the 800m Abbie Henderson set a big new PB of 2.23.6 to be third, with Carys Arnold second in the B string with a PB of 2.29.8. Jinaan Lockwood and Gabriella Nero both ran PBs in non-scoring of 2.30.1 and 2.39.8 respectively. Isabelle Nero and Alice Brown looked after 200m and 300m, and Abbie Henderson and Jess Cook both ran well in 75m hurdles.
In the field Rachel Burn put in a good shift in hammer, shot (PB of 8.26m) and discus and Amelia Peck threw a big PB of 26.54m to be third in A string javelin. Jess Cook threw PBs in hammer (21.43m) and shot (7.50m) to earn good points. Abbie Burton made a good debut with 1.30m in high jump and 16.67m in discus. Orla Williams and Carys Arnold jumped PBs of 4.34m and 4.25m respectively in long jump, Carys helped with B string javelin, and Abbie Henderson looked after B string high jump. The 4 x 300m team of Isabelle, Carys, Abbie and Jinaan ran a season’s best 3.09.60.
Under 13 Girls
Frankie Baxter had a fantastic battle with UK top-ranked 1200m runner Charlotte Wormley from Crawley. The high tempo race led to second place for Frankie in a club record 3.51.6. Rosa Williams ran well to be second in B string with 4.07.1. The 800m also saw two second places for Chiltern – Lesedi Nkoane in A string, and Ella Botha in B string, both running identical PBs of 2.32.0. Jemma Thomson ran great new PBs of 10.50 and 20.80 in 75m and 150m respectively, but only good enough for fifth and fourth in very high calibre racing. Evie Whatling ran a PB of 11.4 in 75m B string, and Frankie Baxter ran 22.5 in 150m B string and also helped in B string shot. Gabi Riley was in PB form with 12.2 in 70m hurdles and 7.41m in shot. Rosa Williams jumped a PB of 1.20m in high jump and Jemma and Lesedi looked after long jump. Ellie Shield threw a PB of 13.56m in javelin. Jasmine Ahlawat made her debut in javelin. Marea Logan with 2.40.2 and Ellie Shield with 2.43.4 both ran PBs in non-scoring 800m.
Under 15 Boys
James Spicer had another good day, 12.00 in 100m, a PB of 24.10 (just outside English Schools qualifying) in 200m, and 28.58m in javelin. Nathan Hackley was also in PB form, winning A string 800m in 2.08.50 and B string 300m in 41.40. Adam Winstanley ran B string 200m and a PB of 41.50 in A string 300m. Rex Vidal helped in A string long jump and high jump, and B string 100m. Matt Aldred had a good run in B string 800m to run 2.18.4 and there were PBs in 1500m for Woody Jackson (4.43.5) and Tom Emery (4.47.1). Woody helped in B string discus and Tom in B string high jump. Saajan Jassy scored useful points in hurdles, discus and shot. Charlie Stone ran a good non-scoring PB of 2.22.0 in 800m and helped with B string long jump. The 4 x 100m team of Saajan, Rex, Adam and James ran a swift 48.50 to be third.
Under 13 Boys
John Broadis again scored well in 100m, 200m and threw a javelin PB of 22.26m. Jamie Powell won B string javelin with 17.81m and ran A string 800m. There was another B string win for Max Baxter in 800m with a PB of 2.33.6. In 1500m Leon Doran had to pull out with an ankle problem but Rowan Gawne finished with a solid time of 5.08.5. Isaac Jessop-Tranter again looked strong in 100m and 200m scoring PBs in both with 14.3 and 29.6 respectively. Noah Hobson looked after long jump and shot with help from Max Baxter and Leon Doran. Charlie Ventress ran well in 75m hurdles and jumped 1.15m in high jump.
