We’ll start as per tradition with parkrun. No wins for Harriers on Saturday 23 February, but milestones for Caitlin and Lily Gregory who both completed their 50thparkruns at Rickmansworth (29.06 and 30.05, respectively). There were course PBs for Trevor Brawn at Bournemouth (25.14); Olivia Clarke at Tring (23.58) and Ethan Trimmer at Rouse Hill parkrun in Australia (25.06). (Incidentally, Ade McCormack also seems to have been down under, and completed the Western Springs parkrun, whilst David Saul did the wonderfully-named Terry Hershey parkrun in Houston, Texas.) Finally, there were overall parkrun PBs for James Malin at Chippenham (23.58) and for Euan and Archie Pinder at Tring (20.28 and 21.39).
Today, Sunday 24 February, there were podium positions in three different events. Starting closest to home, Mark Bruce was first in the M40 category at the Hillingdon 10k, with a time of 36.04. In the half marathon event, there was a PB for Julia Aliaj (1.45.15), and strong runs by Beth Lang (1.44.55), Steve Field (2.01.25) and Amber Stubbings (2.29.33). Moving slightly further away, Ali Young was first V45 and 3rd female at the Thorpe and Egham Half Marathon, in a time of 1.26.15. In the Winslow 10k Kingsley Nanton came home in 42.25. And finally, I took in some of the delights of the North Downs Way, finishing 1stlady in the Lenham Cross Winter (Trail) Marathon, in a time of 4.05.43.
COMING UP LOCALLY: Berko Half Marathon, Goring 10k, Hillingdon 20, the third (and final) Gade Valley Harriers Marathon Training Run. Check out the Club calendar for more details of these events and others.
