South Bucks competed hard at Kingston in the third of four YDL Upper Age Group matches. At time of writing final results were not available but it looks like the team will need a good turnout at the final match to avoid relegation.
A record eleven Chiltern Harriers athletes have been selected by their county schools associations to take part in the prestigious English Schools Championships on July 12th/13th at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Ten are competing for Bucks Schools and one for Somerset Schools.
At Watford It was another good evening for Chiltern on Wednesday. Conditions were good with mild temperatures and a light breeze.
Chiltern Harriers U13s and U15s put in another good performance in the YDL Lower Age Group at a sunny but blustery Sandy in Bedfordshire on Saturday. The team was fourth on the day in the division of eight clubs and are clear in third place after three out of four matches.
A large crop of Chiltern youngsters form U9 to U15 took part in the Wycombe Phoenix Invitational at Little Marlow on Sunday.
In dry but blustery conditions there were some great performances on show.
Cool, grey, drizzly conditions did not stop Chiltern’s youngsters from bagging another very good set of personal bests at Watford on Wednesday. From 28 athletes, 20 ran PBs.
A good crop of Chiltern young athletes took part for their schools at the Buckinghamshire Schools Championships at Milton Keynes on Saturday. The weather was drizzly, blustery, and grey but there were several event wins and many good performances despite the conditions.
A small number of Chiltern athletes took part for their schools at the Herts Schools Championships at Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.
In grey and cool conditions, it was good to see athletes achieving PBs. Callum Powell, in the Year 6 600m, ran for a new best, by four seconds, of 1.49.5 to be second.
In the Pre-Junior Boys (Year 7) Leon Doran was fifth in 5.00.6 in the 1500m. Also in the Pre-Junior Boys John Broadis threw a new PB of 29.42m in javelin to break his school record and finish fifth.
Jemma Thomson was fourth in the final of the Junior Girls 200m in 27.45 after a heat win in 27.60. Carys Arnold was tenth in the Junior Girls 800m in 2.38.9.
In the Inter Boys 800m Ben Hunter ran a PB of 2.06.0 to be fourth.
Race Report 1 -2 June: Cool Runnings at the Spitsbergen Marathon and the European Triathlon Championships
Before we get into the details of this weekend, a quick hark back to May, specifically to Saturday 25 May, when Rashila Wanninayake and Sylvia Moss completed the ‘short’ and ‘middle’ distances at the Maverick x TRIBE Run Free Chilterns. Their times were 1.26.12 and 2.34.33, respectively. (Also worth noting that Sylvia then finished the Vitality London 10k on Monday 27 May… that takes some serious strength.) Well done, ladies!
Fourteen Chiltern Harriers athletes took part in the annual British Milers Club PB Classic at Milton Keynes on Saturday.
In warm, sunny conditions PBs were hard to come by but there were many excellent runs.
