In parkrun news yesterday, there was a first place finish and all-time parkrun PB of 19.16 for Maddie Hughes at Rickmansworth. Hannah Wardley ran away with the victory at Long Eaton in 18.46; as did Aran Davidson, who seems to be back up to speed, winning Brooklands parkrun in 17.56. Mick Dolling and Charlotte Docwra earned course PBs (26.10 at Rickmansworth and 25.09 at Wendover, respectively), whilst Ben Jackson came away with a new blistering overall PB of 17.36 from Black Park. Finally, Ruth Holroyd celebrated her 50thparkrun, completing Rickmansworth in 26.07.
Moving on to today, Sunday 24 March, Fabe Downs finished off his weekend of racing with a first place finish in the Rhylauf (the half marathon distance) with a time of 1.09.52. In Spain Luis Fra Fernandez clocked a time of 1.24.18 in the XCT Xove Costa Trail race (a run of 14km and some 1,600 ft of elevation). Sadly, neither my German nor my Spanish are of a level to allow me to tell you anything about either of those races… except that they sound hard.
Sticking with the international theme, Mark Bruce completed the ‘Best Damn Race New Orleans’ (5k) today in a time of 17.19, and taking first place. Finally, in London Miriam Kempson earned herself a big new half marathon PB in the London Landmarks Half Marathon (supported ably by Tamsin Finch) in 1.51.20. Joining Miriam was Carla Willars in 1.55.11.
